Review on HATCHBOX Silver Performance PLA 3D Printer Filament - Dimensional Accuracy+/- 0.03 Mm For Superior Printing Results by Greg Lockhart

Hatchbox is usually solid, but the first P in PPLA seems to stand for Poor.

I'm a long time Hatchbox customer and I have always loved their stuff. I needed some Blue PLA for a project and they were out of the normal stuff, so I picked this up. First impressions were good- It was nicely wound, good color, same spool as their other stuff. Great!Checked the diameter out, and consistently 1.73mm+/- 0.02mm for as far as I cared to measure- Also wonderful.I then went to print it using my usual settings, and that's when things went to s***. The tops of flat objects look great, but any overhang/bridge/side surface look terrible. In addition, the layer adhesion was awful- Parts just snapped apart.I did a temperature ramp from 230C all the way down to 180C and the best results were on the upper end, but even then they left a lot to be desired.I 3D print professionally and used 90 spools of Hatchbox filament last year alone. This is the first one that has given me problems of this magnitude. Silver and Gold ABS and PLA both print worse than other colors, but this is just downright unusable. I'm disappointed I spent the extra money for this; I really wanted to like it.
