Review on 500 Lbs Capacity Aluminum Hitch Cargo Carrier - CURT 18113 49" X 22-1/2" Black by Mauricio Woodard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems fine. Spendy, serves the purpose, better than the Chinese (harbor) Freight max haul

For the price I’m not sure if it was worth $268 plus tax. The total came out to $285. The item I received from Trend Auto looked like it was previously opened and then sent back. Whoever packed it up did a poor job. The steel receiver hitch part was loose and put a dent in the side rail. I contacted Trend Auto about the return and they were slow to respond. It’s a large item so it’s not easy to return. You would have to repackage the item to keep it from getting furthered damaged. It doesn’t fold up when not in use so it’s always down in the one position. I’m afraid someone will backup into it or just drive into it. Time will tell? There’s only two sets of eyebolt tie downs so it’s a bit difficult to secure things, but you can use a cam strap to secure a load across the sides. The sides don’t go up very far so I was concerned about loosing my weed eater that I had twist tied onto the rear cargo tray. Overall, my new car will handle 200 pounds on the hitch so loading 500 pounds is not an option. I imagine I could load about 300 pound max. Overall it felt fairly secure.the rear cargo tray did keep my vehicle from getting smelly inside from moving bags of mulch and tree bark.

Pros
  • ‎CARBIDE BLACK POWDER COAT
Cons
  • Can pose safety hazards in the event of an accident or collision
