I love this scale! I use it to weigh my parrots and track their weight as one of them is underweight. Other scales that weigh to the nearest gram show little change in weight. With a small bird, I needed something more precise. That does the trick! I rock my birds at night when they are quiet and the lights are dimmed. The display backlight is great. I don't use a transparent tray and have taught my birds to step off my finger onto the scale. In the past, when my birds were less tame, I had to put them in a large tall bowl container on a feed scale to weigh them. This method doesn't work on this type of scale because it's so small and anything placed over it will black out the display. So if you need it for your birds, you need to teach them how to ride it. Absolutely worth every penny! Oh yeah, and I think I can use it for food too?
