Review on πŸ”§ Milton S-442 1.25-inch Brass Valve Extension - Set of 4 by Jason Regalado

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does not work well with pumps that have an auto shut-off.

When I first reviewed them I gave them a higher rating. But then I inflated the tires with a constant pressure pump. If you're constantly using incoming air pressure (like any pump that doesn't try to measure PSI) you can probably apply air but not be able to measure PSI. I just discovered that either my air pumps, which are designed to fill to a certain PSI and then stop, don't work. Apparently there is no back pressure in the air pump to measure PSI and the pumps always think the pressure is higher than it actually is. The pumps don't even run most of the time when these wands are on. Both of my auto shut off pumps do this with these extensions. And one more thing, I couldn't attach a PSI stick or dial indicator to measure PSI. This problem appears to stem from the fact that they use a ball bearing that requires pressure to open a valve in the stem. If you are trying to measure pressure in psi. It's good to have air in the tires. However, this means that trying to measure their PSI is useless. If you have a tire that you cannot measure in psi, you have the wrong tire pressure. So I had to remove everything from the tires. This happens with both short and long ones. I thought they had a device for continuously pushing a pin into the valve stem to open it while having your own pin on the end. They don't have valves that open on contact. Their valves are only opened by constant internal air pressure pushing the ball bearing inward. This isn't the best way to build extensions. It's cheap and prone to leaks. So this problem renders all 8 useless to me. That's why I can't buy them.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank
