Freud 38-106 Roman Ogee Bit 1-3/8" diameter with 1/2" shank I ordered a Freud Quadra-Cut Burr direct from one of their recent promotional magazines - part number 38-106 as pictured and in the advertising. What I received was a 2 blade chisel NOT the 4 blade Quadra Cut chisel presented and pictured in their ad. I called Freud. They say the reason I got the old twin wing design is because they don't change the part number when going to the new standard profile design - they just use the old part number for the new design of the same profile. And they don't start shipping a new design until all of their inventory of the old design is sold. In the meantime, the buyer is in luck; He may or may not get a new design - it's not known for sure. I think it's some kind of promotional bait with a good dose of confusion. Not the best way to deal with customers and dealers. Not the best way to create a positive image for your business. Why not just change the part number to a new design? Add at least an "aβ or "bβ to the part number so the customer can order the exact design generation they need. This is what other manufacturers do and it avoids any confusion for the end user. The current system makes it difficult for me to be sure that I am actually getting what I want when I order something from the Freud brand. This is not a reflection of Revain; They did their part quickly and efficiently. But Freud needs an overview of their procedures.
