Stratford Lab GFP-001 digital copier purchased from another source and had initial setup issues as described by other reviewers. I found this very helpful troubleshooting guide and post for convenience. Pay special attention to the USB 2.0 requirement. IS-505, GFP-001 Image Scanner Troubleshooting Make sure your USB ports (instructions) are version 2.0. The scanner does not work with USB 1.1 ports. This can be found on the System Information screen or in Device Manager. USB2 Enhanced Error The camera cannot be found. Connect the Omnivision Supercam. The computer has not yet recognized the scanner. Try different USB ports. Desktop (rear ports) Make sure you perform the calibration procedure. Scanner The trays only slide out in one direction, do not pull the tray back. Only works with XP and Vista operating systems, no Mac version. (Check the website below for a possible update on a MAC) USB ports on the back of desktop models are recommended (front ports are not always 2.0). Sometimes it helps to switch USB ports. Uninstall old versions of Photo Impressions. The negatives will appear as negatives until transferred to the PC. Try disconnecting other USB devices if the computer does not recognize the scanner. The Pin Grabber error can be caused by other USB devices. Try turning them off. The scanner may take longer to correct overexposed photos. Installing the wrong driver results in a black screen. Check the system 32 or 64 bit. The scanner cannot be connected to a USB hub unless it is a high-speed version 2.0 hub. The processor speed must be at least 800 MHz. 512MB of RAM or more is recommended (the scanner operates on 256MB). Check if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit (Computer Properties). This can cause the snapshot screen to go black if the system is 64-bit. The scanner is designed to operate on 32-bit systems. We have a patch for the 64-bit version. Some wireless USB devices can interfere with the scanner. The computer freezes after scanning 3 or 4 frames, check the Intel website for video driver updates. [.] The GFP-001 is compatible with Windows 7, however there are specific instructions on how to manually download the appropriate driver (see above). Loading the driver from the menu prevents the device from working properly with PhotoImpression. Here is the source: [.]
