We bought 2 of these to attach to our station wagon for driving 3200 miles cross country from Pennsylvania to California. We wanted to store clothes in it to free up space in the car. Of course, we had never used them and were afraid that they would fall off and all our clothes would be lost immediately. We didn't have to worry. They are extremely durable and weather resistant. They withstood the rain, cold, strong wind and intense heat. After the first day of riding I had absolutely no concerns about them falling off. In addition, they are very spacious. They allowed us to store much more than just clothes. These bags would fit most of our family of 4 for a week. They're huge but not too bulky to carry around hotels. I don't think you want to leave them strapped to your car overnight because there's no security whatsoever. some. They fit in every car. Worth every penny. I cannot recommend them enough.
