I've read review after review of many "baby" helmets and while I'm not a big fan of the teddy bear look, it fits my 5 month old and that's the main thing. For security and adjustment as the child's head grows there is a headband that tightens and loosens, the ear straps and chin strap are separately adjustable to accommodate any head shape. She was comfortable and didn't try to take it off, she chatted and even fell asleep during our 4 mile bike ride. I would highly recommend this Schwinn helmet to any child under 1 and it can definitely grow with your 1+ year old.
