Thin enough to finish polishing any knife blade even if they say you want crazy little stones like 8000 or 12000 or something. This won't remove chips from the blade, but water can cut a little to give your favorite knife a nice edge. It doesn't work without water. The stone is very soft and breaks down into a fine slurry that is actually used for cutting and polishing. That makes this one better than many others. It will not scratch or damage the blade. Be sure to keep it clean as debris can damage the blade.
