Review on 🪚 CMT 537-150-31 32-inch Diameter Forstner Bit by Rusty Heredia

Tried with oak and pine. This made an acceptable hole but was very slow and required a lot of pressure, causing the bit to heat up quickly. I considered sending it back but decided not to bother. The design is difficult to sharpen, and the Chinese sharpened it rather roughly. I cut a little better with an augur file and a ceramic shank from my triangular sharpener, but still not very well. I have an old Irwin bit of the same size, made in Austria. It's the exact same design and cuts just as badly. The sawtooth edge is not the product I received; it has a smooth edge. The drill clogs quickly and has to be pulled out of the hole frequently to clean it out. Tried a Freud Diablo drill bit and it cut faster and left an even smoother hole. It also seems a lot easier to regrind. I have an old CMT router from Italy that worked very well. I have to wonder what is going on in CMT.
