Bought for vertical mulching my oak tree in clay soil. Wears out quickly after only 20 holes. Lost 25% width at the tip and could no longer drill holes as it could no longer penetrate the ground. Worked well initially but after 5 holes it became more difficult to drill. I'm sure it will work better in loose soil. to show how heavily the material was worn. There are two levels on the side as a ruler to visualize the wear. The shank also flexed a bit to allow the drill bit to shake a bit. Not enough not to use it, but enough to mention it.
