These pliers are just what you need to remove the locking pins if you want to salvage them. It really depends on the pen, some are so old and brittle or cheap that they break no matter what tool you use. However, it helps to save the ones you can. These pliers are well made, but they aren't spring-loaded, which doesn't bother me. Don't worry it was a good buy for the rare occasion I had to remove the plastic part of the bumper that was held in place by those little plastic pins. Tool box available.
