I've used similar connectors before and really liked them. However, it takes a tremendous amount of heat to soak up the solder and this usually means burning the heat shrink tubing and causing the solder to ooze out. The solder band is also very small and doesn't completely fill the wire when stunned. The holes on either end of the connector were not compatible, so some wires with thicker jackets did not always fit the end of the connector. one side of the heat shrink tubing was smaller in diameter than the other. I was forced to use liquid flux to wick the solder which added an extra step to the process that I didn't want to do and if I didn't already have the flux on hand it would render these useless. .
