Easy to use, quiet as a mouse, but the cable is a bit short

USB 3.0 Type-C External DVD Drive Portable CD DVD +/-RW for Laptop DVD Player CD Burner Laptop Compatibility Desktop PC Windows MacBook Mac Linux Mac OS The external drive comes simply packaged in a white cardboard box with Product information supplied outside printed instructions. Inside the box you'll find the drive itself in a simple protective plastic sleeve and a quarter sheet of printed paper with instructions. One of the things I love about this ready-to-use drive is that the USB cable fits into a molded storage space just below the drive. No need to look for a cable, it's always connected. The connector is USB 3 and they also include a USB 3 USB-C adapter so you have a lot more versatility. When connecting the drive to the computer, the connection is a bit difficult. The form-fitting fit is definitely a plus, but I don't know if that's intentional or just a production thing. I noticed that it was draining power to start itself as soon as I plugged it in, even though my computer wouldn't start. I'm assuming the particular USB port is powered even when the computer is off, like some PCs do. I'm still not sure if that's good or bad. My first use was to run a test program on my PC that needed this drive to be bootable. My motherboard recognized the external drive and it identified itself as TSST Corp CD DVD w TS-L633C TF01. I suspect my motherboard is reading this directly from the board ID in the drive itself. If I listen closely, I can hear the drive spinning as it reads the DVD it contains, and it's pretty quiet. If I hadn't been listening carefully, I might not have heard it. Generally, I know these types of external DVD drives are for laptops, but in my case I used them on a mini-ATX tower PC. One issue I had was that the cord was short for easy storage and a bit short for my use. If you are considering buying this please note that the cable is only about 6 inches long.
