Review on Cutting plotter Brother ScanNCut CM300 by Ognian Dimitrov ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A reliable product for all occasions, the quality is at the level.

In addition, I ordered a large mat, on which A3 sheets are placed. The cutting knife broke, but rather it was my fault, there were unsuccessful settings (knife pressure when cutting even from thick paper, I recommend always leaving 0, only adjusting the release of the knife on the holder). I ordered a new one. The stickiness of the mat is lost fairly quickly (depending on the intensity of use), but when it becomes completely unsatisfactory, it can be restored with a spray adhesive (I use 3M Spray Mount Adhesive, does the job). The box arrived damaged, but this was probably due to Boxberry logistics problems (the pickup point where I ordered delivery stopped working). At the same time, the cutting plotter itself was not damaged.

Pros
  • It copes with the task of cutting out paper for drawing.
Cons
  • There are cutting errors, especially when cutting non-rectangular shapes (involving the movement of the knife in two directions at once). For example, when cutting a rectangle with rounded edges, the edges will be rounded off to one side. The heart will not be completely symmetrical. However, these errors are not large, usually less than a millimeter. Without installing proprietary software, the contours recorded in svg files are cut out, but you have to dance with a tambourine, refuses to cut complex contours. The software wants to double-check the account every week, if possible, I would like to get a technique that does not require asking permission to use it. Cannot cut using "registration marks" by printed, that is, not print a pattern with marks by which the plotter can navigate where to cut. You have to align the printed sheet manually.
