Review on πŸ’» Efficient ORICO M3H4-G2 USB 3.1 Hub: 4 Port Aluminum Data Hub with 10Gbps Super Speed for Desktop PC and Laptop by Amy Thomas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good, but. Best in Computers & Accessories

The included USB and power cables are terribly short. The 2.1/5.5mm barrel plug adapter solved my power cord problem. I bought a longer USB3.2 cable rated at 10Gbps. transfer rates, but the hub is finicky about using adapters for the USB A side. The cable that ended up working was a long USB-C to USB-A cable, which is commonly used for Oculus VR headsets. not working. It doesn't register at all that I have a hub connected. Instead I used the USB-A side of my computer (USB 3.2 PCIe card) and had to use a USB-C to USB-A adapter (also USB 3.2) to connect to the hub. It works. But I don't think I'm getting the speeds I should be. Initially I tried using a USB-C to USB-C cable (10Gbps) and going from the USB-C output of the same PCIe card to a hub with an adapter, but it didn't work at all is working. The PC never recognized the hub in this configuration. It was a bit of a hassle and the hub looks silly with the long USB3.2 adapter sticking out, but it works. Whether this works as announced is still unclear. I want to install hardware that can actually test the transfer rate without potential bottlenecks skewing the results.
