This is a very accurate spirit level. The thickness of the cellophane piece causes the bubble to move from side to side. I immediately ran a reverse test, which failed. I carefully aligned and checked the piece of glass. In 1 direction, the bubble was maximized in 1 direction. When I turned it 180 degrees, the bubble came out on the opposite side. So after a lot of trial and error I added .008 shims under 1 end. This resulted in it being accurate and passing the backtest. I then glued it to a short, hefty 6" aluminum C-channel 1" long. I now have a very accurate level that usually costs $120. Note that this level is so sensitive that even if it's not perfect, it's still more accurate than most normal levels. It's not that difficult to fix, and it's actually an educational exercise. Featured!
