Review on πŸ”¨ Marples High Impact Chisel 1819360 - Essential Chisel Tool Enhancing Durability by Mike Modesto

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Hoped too much?

I don't know. We bought a 2" chisel from Lowe here and it broke after a few days. They brought it back, bought another one and the same thing happened. The tool has to withstand heavy impact. This one performed much better than Lowe's but unfortunately this one broke.that you hammer was simply pressed and the chisel itself was assembled in the handle section. It didn't take long to destroy it.The Irwin, although made from one piece of metal and fitted with a large metal mallet, that the section was not was part of the instrument and eventually came off we glued it back on and after just a week the plastic the mallet was on was also broken don't get me wrong this is a good tool unless you really want the huti off beat it out.We use a tool to strip the bark off it and plan to use the wood for heating. We're in Georgia and some of the old oaks, along with nice ones n life-thick rind pecans and some black cherries, you know. Let's just say if you get out of this hell it won't be long. For a normal application I don't even know what a normal application would be for a 2" bit, but in normal use it should work fine.

Pros
  • IRWIN Tools chisels from Marples have been the industry leader for woodworkers for nearly 200 years.
Cons
  • I don't remember
