They are definitely for warmer weather. My kid complains that his fingers get cold in temperatures below 33F and the reason I bought them was because their hands don't get cold in colder weather AND they can still operate the brake levers. I would recommend only using them for cycling as they wear out very quickly if you try to use them for anything else and kids will want to use them for everything because they look cool.
