Item was packaged in a retail box shipped in another box with some packaging materials and arrived undamaged. The starter was identical to the OEM starter and cranked the engine 2-3 times with no failure. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I just received it and can't comment on long term performance yet. TO UPDATE. I have used the boat 3 times (up to 12 starts) and the starter has lost contact with the flywheel. I used a different battery and bypassed the solenoid to be sure. It should have a one year warranty. Just take a look. TO UPDATE. I contacted the seller and they gave me an RMA number and an address to ship the defective starter. I then got an OEM brush kit from Yamaha and fitted it to the original OEM starter and it seems to work fine. A few days later I received a replacement starter from Db Electrical. Haven't tried it on a boat and don't intend to as I have the original. I just keep it as a reserve.
