Review on πŸ”Œ NET HyperDrive USB C Hub 6-in-2 for MacBook Pro Air, Multi-Port USB-C Dongle with Gigabit Ethernet, 40Gbps 100W Power Delivery, 5Gbps 60W Data Transfer, 4K30Hz HDMI by Richard Marriott

Reliable hub with a good range of ports

Pros: I've been using this hub for about a month now and have kept it connected to my 16" MacBook Pro the whole time. I checked all ports and they work as advertised. I haven't been able to test USB 3 speeds, but a USB 2 flash drive works the same whether it's connected to a hub or to an Apple Thunderbolt USB thumb drive. It works on either side of the MacBook and occupies two ports on that side, but since you've got a 100W Thunderbolt port, that's not a problem. The second Thunderbolt port is 60W. The hub doesn't touch the table when plugged in, but that's a bonus because the Gigabit port has a trapdoor that needs to be lifted before you can plug in the cable. Since the hub doesn't fit flush on the table, this means you can use the Ethernet port no matter which side the hub is plugged into. This is a good but not ideal color combination for a space gray MacBook. Looks a little darker. Cons: The device comes with little to no documentation. The product description on Revain is more detailed than what comes with the device. It's pretty easy to accidentally pull the hub while the HDMI cable is connected, resulting in interrupted video output. I suspect this applies to all these types of hubs. If you plug it in on the right side, it completely covers the headphone jack. It's also expensive, twice the price of many other hubs. As advertised, USB ports do not work with SuperDrive and cannot charge an iPad. So I really need another Thunderbolt - USB dongle.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
