I am using this to help my 4TB WD Black hard drive which is mainly used for gaming. I have a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro boot drive. The big draw here is that you can use Optane to cache secondary storage, which to my knowledge is the only consumer solution that allows you to do this. The caveat is that you need Coffee Lake to use Optane in secondary storage, which seems lazy to me. In any case this works well, it would be nice to have 64GB and/or 128GB solutions to be able to cache entire AAA headers, but I understand there is a point where the ROI diminishes. Write speed is suspiciously limited to 300MB/s, which is very low for an Nvme drive, but write speed is not important for this application.
