I am using this to help my 4TB WD Black hard drive which is mainly used for gaming. I have a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro boot drive. The big draw here is that you can use Optane to cache secondary storage, which to my knowledge is the only consumer solution that allows you to do this. The caveat is that you need Coffee Lake to use Optane in secondary storage, which seems lazy to me. I bought this optional module to speed up my 8TB secondary drive. I saw a video about how easy it is to speed up your drive if you have an 8th gen Intel processor and decided to give it a try. Also, you have to jump through some hoops; For example, with at least 5MB of unallocated disk space - you need to format the drive and leave some free space at the end, I think this also requires Win10.
