Not for a large lens for tripods and monopods

It seems well made and can work well for the price but there are some caveats. The maximum drop of the incline arm is 76mm from the centerline of the incline axis to the QR rail. Bottom. The Sigma 150-600mm C is 82.5mm (3.25 inches) from the center to the bottom of the QR plate, so the center of gravity is over the pivot point. In this position, the Sigma 150-600mm C can only tilt up 35 degrees. before the QR plate touches the hub. Tilt down 45 degrees. Both swivel and tilt bearings are viscous dampened. With no gear installed, it takes 2 seconds to go from 90 degrees to 30 degrees at room temperature and increases to 4 seconds at 32F. I didn't feel any play in the pivot bearing. There is a little play in the pivot bearing, I would consider it negligible, 0.2 degrees from loose to tight detent. This causes a slight shift in the frame from non-locking to locking. There is 1/8 turn from tilt lock to full viscous tilt. There is no resistance adjustment, tightening uses internal teeth spaced 5 degrees apart. So you can't snap it between those 5 degree gaps, it moves to the next notch. As you tighten the pan lock firmly, you may notice that a small retainer stays in place. Horizontally from QR 65 mm. the center of the plate to the inside of the tilt arm. 23mm clearance between the top of the horizontal arm/hub and the bottom of the QR platform. Weight 734 gw / without QR plate, 790 g with included plate.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
