Review on 🚚 UnderCover SwingCase SC301D - Truck Bed Storage Box for Dodge Dakota (Driver's Side), 1987-2013 by Kendrick Dooley

I was trying to make sidepods for my pickup when I came across them. Those are really nice boxes. Easy to install. Lots of space. I especially like the ability to take them off when I need a place to charge. A few notes: the screws provided for installation are 1/4-20. I was concerned about the ability of these screws to hold the sheet metal, so I installed rivet nuts instead (not included - you'll need six for each box). I used the mounting bracket as a template to mark the mounting points and then drilled through the 1/4-20 threaded nuts. This means a slightly larger opening, but a much cleaner and more secure fit. If I ever take the boxes off, the rivets will look a lot better than the ragged hole. The degree of protection is not great. They have a 1/4 turn single point lock and it would be easy to undo the top (probably breaking it in the process) so don't expect to store valuables inside. I mainly use them for winter emergencies like tow chain, folding spade, snow chains, guy wires and the like. I also keep them under the trunk lid so hopefully I keep them out of sight and out of memory.
