I've bought more of these. They are well designed and work flawlessly just like other Eve Homekit products I have purchased. I'm an old programmer, I've had X-10, Insteon, Z-Wave, WiFi-Enabled and these Bluetooth LE products. I think they are better in every way. Security. Wi-Fi devices put your entire network at risk if not properly protected by a firewall. Ring's doorbell was intercepted while the audio was being sent to China. Many other unknown brand Wi-Fi switches have been caught sending data to China. With Bluetooth LE, they just can't do that. - Energy. BLE devices consume almost no power. I've been running Eve's Weather Monitor on AA batteries for over a year now and it still has a good charge. This is the case when using the Eve application to load data at regular intervals for monitor charts. WLAN-enabled devices consume several watts of electricity. Not much, but it's a lot more when you add 24x7x365 mode. That's the most important factor for me. I tried the Leviton WiFi Switch (DH15S) because I needed a 3-position switch. It shuts down (Reddit and Revain are full of complaints) and unusable. The company sent me a new one for free, but that one was also unreliable. I eventually replaced it with an Eve switch and rewired it so it was no longer a 3 position. Inconvenient, but now it's reliable and I can switch at any time from my phone app. - Defect. The only thing I can think of is the distance I didn't care. I have 3 levels of concrete and steel and have never had freezes. But I can think of some very large homes where a mesh Wi-Fi network would work better. They don't make a multi-position switch, which isn't that important for voice control, but requires red and black wires to be connected in a different junction box.
