Review on KREG KMA3200 Shelf Pin Drilling by Matthew Gonzales

Some functions are missing

I have several Kreg products and am generally a fan of them. When it came time to put together some cabinets that needed shelving, the Kreg bolt attachment seemed like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the product lacks some features that prevent me from recommending it. the template must be turned to opposite sides), there are no reference marks on the sides of the template to center the hole along the line. I think that would be a really useful feature and I don't quite understand why something as simple as a fiducial mark isn't included on a jig. Line and place a mark on the edge of the template to help with alignment. clamp. Initially I tried using a clamp but found that the force of the drill could cause the jig to move. I suggest using a C clamp as you need extra strength to keep the jig from moving. Finally, the drill is really terrible. It bites quite aggressively and can tear plywood. I would suggest using a good quality quarter inch chisel (not brad). So I had much better results. In my first project I used ready made plywood and the fixing severely damaged the wood. This was not the case when it was necessary to simply grind the raised points. The chisel was so aggressive that it actually pulled some of the inner layers to the surface and created a mound. If I tried to sand them I would go through the veneer. Do yourself a favor and buy a new quality racquet. It will save you a headache, trust me! I like the fact that the jig has room in the back for a drill and a built in depth gauge, but it feels like they could go a little further and make room for an allen wrench for a locking ring. This is one of those items that likes to get lost. Finally, I would suggest setting the drill three-quarters into the jig and then making sure the drill is running at high speed before you start drilling. This will prevent breakage. The best advice I can give is to practice on scraps first. This device is not as simple as it might seem. I would also suggest if you have a really tall cabinet, cutting out a few pieces of wood to line up the template instead of using a tape measure. It's very easy to make a mistake when measuring the distance from the bottom of the cabinet to the bottom of the light fixture. The stop block ensures precise alignment of the device. Again, make sure you are using a C-type clamp and not one of the spring type clamps. You are not strong enough. I think this jig can give great results if you swap out the drill for a better one and take the time to make stop blocks yourself to align the jig.
