Very easy to miss: Herd

Right side, worked great. Wrong symptom. I had to dig deeper. In the summer, when I lifted the pot to clean underneath, I accidentally ripped off the lever that opened the ash pan door. The ash collected under the pot but above the ashtray. There is a black cover with 4 black screws. Very easy to miss. And I made it. After I reattached the hinge and cleaned the area, the stove fired like it was brand new. I reinstalled the original controller and it works fine. Now I have a spare controller.
