Review on Enhance Efficiency with the Gates-38342K Kit: A Comprehensive Solution for Optimal Performance by Harry Tulsa

Nice kit but make sure it fits your engine

I have a 1999 Plymouth Voyager with a 3.3 liter engine. The belt in this kit (an integral part of the design advantages) is not for the 3.3 liter engine! A simple (yes I didn't do this until the strap was fairly taut) would be helpful to check the strap you are removing. Mine was obviously too short (maybe the 3.0-litre shorter?) - or maybe it's a belt for a non-AC setup? See the new comments below for the strap. I avoided the hassle of installing a new tensioner and removed the new knurled pulley. I just installed it on my old tensioner (with a new bolt) with no problems. Pulley is easy. I just installed a regular serpentine belt. I haven't tested it in the wet yet. But I think the simple benefit of having pulleys on both the tensioner and the pulley with flanges on them (to hold the belt) should be enough. I plan on calling Gates to see if they will swap my belt out for a correct one for my 3.3 liter belt. I may update this post if I find new information. I've been in trouble twice (some people seem to get a lot worse) and I don't want it to happen again. If anyone sees any problems like I did please let me know. It was a little expensive for me to use the kit for only two pulleys. but if it works, it's worth the money. NEW INFO (found on Gates' website): I didn't edit my review above, but am adding the following information. This kit is clearly for 3.0L. Here are the correct part numbers (I went to the Gates website): 3.0 liter kit - part number 38342K (with belt, part number DK060791) 3.3 liter kit - part number 38379K (with belt, part number DK060956) All Individual The pulleys are also listed separately on the Gates website if interested. UPDATE PART 2: After realizing that the 3.0L strap doesn't fit, I assumed I could fit a standard strap (with disposable fins). I drove about 100 miles, the belt broke and I got stuck. It looks like the belt rubbed against the pulley on one side and eventually snapped. I found out that NAPA has these kits (albeit a lot more expensive) - they also sold the belt separately and I installed it. While everything is fine - I look. One important thing, I've worn a lot of serpentine belts - even after choosing the right one for my 3.3 liter engine it's VERY tight. Even after maximum belt tension, it was very strenuous to relieve the belt. Finally I sprayed some silicone grease on the alternator pulley and was able to apply it to the pulley. I hope this was my last entry.
