This is my second Brita stein, it had an old 5 cup mug which I loved and used for years until a thirsty cat knocked it off the edge of the counter. Received this today and was happy to see the filter design stayed the same as I had several filters for my old Brita that matched the new one perfectly. I saw many complaints about the lid, poured my first glass and expected the worst, nothing. No problem. Maybe they corrected the design or people didn't click them properly, but mine stayed fine. Didn't know there was an electronic filter change counter in the cap, nice surprise but ultimately unnecessary (for people who complain about the 5 year internal battery life, believe it or not, there was a time when we just mentally tracked when to change filters.and when the battery dies, the filtration won't be affected one iota.) I mainly use it for water for brewing tea. before Brita, tea had an almost metallic taste. Post-Brita the tea has the full rich flavor of tea and nothing else. I love these mugs and swear by them. It's an affordable alternative to buying bottles as it pays for itself in less than a month. A totally unrelated note: my kitchen appliances are black/silver, they sit in the fridge or on the counter and look like they came with the kitchen, so a bonus. The Brita I had before was very basic so it was a nice upgrade, double the capacity, better lid/reservoir system. + Brita!
