Drywall dust is heavy, especially overhead. It managed to get the job done, especially since it was hooked up to a vacuum. Need teamwork. Use the product only for its intended purpose. I can't say it's safe to use with a standard or any other drill. Use a vacuum port! The vacuum connection wasn't that good and I managed to separate the metal disc on the bottom when trying to drill a wider hole. So I'm guessing the hole wasn't 1/2", but when it broke through it seemed to work with a larger piece. Saved that much cleaning I can't imagine. I made about 20 holes.
