Review on 17302 Trunnion Weight Distribution Hitch by Alex Cassanova

Good trailer hitch - helps with a large trailer and a full load

Complete and fairly easy to assemble. Use this with a 2004 F150 Super Crew 5.4 with the factory tow package. I'm towing a 4,200 pound 24' x 8.5' van trailer with a 3,000 pound race car and maybe 400 pounds of stuff. We've almost reached the limit of truck towing. The rear sway bar and new Rancho shocks on the back of the truck helped at first, then I added this hitch and it helped the truck pull much better. The included "meh" instructions are decent but short. Enough to install the trailer hitch. I highly recommend watching the installation and configuration video available on Curt's website. Once you've adjusted it and set the height of the ball, it only takes a few minutes to attach or detach and put away. Check the weight of the tongue before installing the boards to get the right weight transfer. I didn't add any other sway rules, but with the winds here in West Texas I might have to do it anyway. I kept the crate and stowed the hitch and bars in the crate, then left them in the trailer when not in use. The hitch is quite large, heavy, and protrudes quite a bit from the receiver, so I don't feel like walking around with it dangling from the back of the truck. My shins will appreciate it, I'm sure.
