At the end of the exposure I am changing my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. The pan itself, like all Lodge pans, is excellent. I spent almost an hour reading Lodge's product reviews and found a lot more than mine - a bit of rust or chipping in the spices on arrival. Since Lodge does not have a good way to control storage, packaging, handling or shipping, once delivered to the seller it is simply impossible to blame Lodge. As for me, I just count on reseasoning each new cast iron upon arrival. If I'm lucky and nobody needs it, that's great. But actually, remodeling is fun and rewarding. And it has the benefit of causing cracks or imperfections that some have encountered in their first uses. ****** Original review below: ****** I'm a Lodge fan - although they still won't be offering a polished interior, which opens the door to a host of new competitors geared towards the high-end are cast iron market. Pan; it looked like it had been hit by the rain or the roof in the warehouse had leaked or something. I had to go through a restoration process - removing the old spice, sanding it down to remove all the rust and applying the spice. This equates to approximately one hour of touch time spread throughout the day from start to finish. I had to go back, I'd probably get another one like this from Revain. Of course, this is a pretty good pan after restoration and aging, but as I mentioned before, Lodge still won't be offering a quality line with a polished or smooth finish. Inside rooms. I email them from time to time and always get polite replies that they have no intention of servicing the market. This saddens me because I want Lodge to be as successful as possible so they continue to make quality cast iron in the US for another hundred years in the Lodge family business. Not following the market as high-end cuisine is spreading like wildfire across the US is a poor choice on your part.
