Review on Ruishion Ethernet Functions Station: Thunderbolt Compatible Solution for Efficient Connectivity by Greg Lockhart

Don't buy to use both video ports independently for MacBook Pro!

At first glance, the product appears to be very durable and well made. Each port is correctly aligned and there were no problems connecting the cables. The cable is fairly short, but for the most part, that's what you need in a hub. I can plug the power cord (USB C on my 2017 MacBook Pro) directly into the hub and my laptop stays on and fully charged. The issues I have with this hub are the versatility. The seller misrepresented Revain by claiming that it can support two independent external displays via the VGA and HDMI ports. This is not for MacBook. I don't have a Windows computer with USB C, but it CANNOT power 2 different independent external displays via HDMI and VGA for an Apple computer. I received the goods today and tested them. I can connect both an HDMI and a VGA display to my laptop at the same time, but both external displays are mirrored. The resolution is also limited by the worst of the two displays. Therefore, to avoid confusion, you can connect a separate display to your Mac using both the VGA port and the HDMI port at the same time. If so, you have a choice of mirroring your laptop screen on both OR extend your desktop onto one of the external screens and have it mirrored on the other external screen (both external screens display the same thing). This was very disappointing as I bought it based on the seller's response. A small manual that comes with the device confirms this. It claims to work with Windows 10 but I can't verify it. Another versatility issue I've encountered has to do with the audio jack. If you connect speakers or headphones to this hub, you will lose all volume control on your Mac. This is also shown in the picture in the instructions.
