Cool Attic Fan is Cool

Works as advertised. A fan is installed in the garage ceiling to force hot air out of the attic and up through the gable vents of the 1,500-square-foot apartment. ft. To do this, I simply flipped the L-shaped brackets to install on the opposite side of the intended one (opposite squares with notches). I had to drill four new holes and cut a groove for the aluminum shell so I could mount the fan flush to the 3/4" board. With the thermostat set to 105 degrees the fan lowers the attic temp by about 2-3 Hours around 10-15 degrees.Although I have a fixed switch connected to the circuit I usually leave the fan running for several hours to allow the built in thermostat to control how long it runs.I have read other reviews declaring the quality of the thermostat was criticized but had no problems with it far.In my kitchen there is an additional standard light switch to turn the fan on and off as needed from around the house. Also the fan in the garage makes quite a lot of noise, however, the noise from the interior is barely audible from my house. In short, I am very satisfied with the quality and performance of the fan and am confident that e r helps keep the house cool, thus reducing the runtime/energy consumption of the main air conditioner. One final note: I've been fortunate enough to have two windows in my two car garage. Leave them open about six inches for the air intake, but both rails have safety locks for security and until I decide where to place the permanent vent. You may decide to stick with this plan for the time being as the fan will mainly only be used during the summer months. Over time I will add ventilation in case the fan works with the garage windows closed.
