It worked in the end, but I spent some time looking for the part that isn't there. It means screwing the pipe to the bottom of the faucet until you can't, the part that attaches to the faucet isn't even threaded, nothing to screw on. Edit: line 1/4 leaked from the switcher the next day. I tightened it but it still flows, I tightened it and it just came loose. I don't know how you could get this thing just right enough that it wouldn't leak and break. I have ordered a new sensor, I hope this one will not let you down.
