My daughter recently switched to this style of tights after other girls on her skating team got them and loved them. The Velcro closure is of course the main benefit, making it easy to put on and take off over the boot. The material is very different from your old tights - it's softer and warmer, doesn't hug or stretch like your old tights. All the other girls on the team say the same - no holes. these last much longer.
