I have been designing and designing hardwood, composites (MDF, LDF, plywood) and other materials for more than 10 years. I used to use standard knives, so-called planing knives (e.g. Magnate 2708), which leave milling marks, burn marks and even cracks where the wood fiber tufts are pulled out and exposed. 2259 I used Amana RC-2258. The 2258 worked very well most of the time, but burned occasionally (not often) when planing hard maple and no matter what feed rates and speed/RPM changes I tried. As a side note, sticking is often caused by too low a feed, too high a speed/rpm, insufficient depth of cut, or blunt cutting tools. This new Amana RC-2259 is great. It leaves a glassy surface and is also very gentle on feed and speed.
