This was a seamless replacement for a John Deere 345 garden tractor. The rattling continued even after the ignition was turned off. On the second start, the engine started immediately. The exchange was relatively easy. Phillips screwdriver and socket wrench set. (1) Disconnect the engine battery (2) Open the engine cover and remove the black bottom plate of the engine cover (one Phillips screw) (3) Remove the positive terminal and electrical quick connector that lead to the power management module (4) Required Access to the two screws mm12. The front bolt is easily accessible. The rear latch is blocked by two black electrical boxes. Unscrew these two screws (10mm screws) and move them, being careful not to damage the wiring. Note. I have problems with the top screw of the top case. I loosened that top screw and just flipped the box to the side. (5) Insert the starter. Reuse the two existing mounting screws (use blue Loctite). Connect the PCM and battery connectors. Connect the positive battery cable.
