Used a range of cheap flat cable connectors. Ozone and sunlight always cause cracks in wires. These are not flat wires but the connector is molded with a round wire going into the connector. It seems to be the way. Solder it to the trailer wiring harness, using plenty of heat shrink tubing and good quality electrical tape. Solder all the connections, when in doubt, use new trailer wiring and it will last you for years.
