This 5V 12A power supply arrived in good condition with no damage and was set at 5.1V which is reasonable. That. At this current level it runs cool, so it's pretty efficient. Internally, it's similar to other "bezel" style consumables with old-school through-holes. It melts and the heat-producing semiconductors make good contact with the thermal paste. I've bought similar power supplies that come with no thermal paste and poor case contact, so that was nice to see. There is an L1/CX1 input filter to prevent noise from getting back to the power input. The setting resistor goes from about 4.9V to 6V. I would like to see a narrower range than full volts, 4.8 - 5.3V would be better. Most people don't care, but I always worry that banging a potentiometer could cause it to go out of spec. No doubt it is possible to fix this if you are willing to put in the effort and have the experience. I've done this with other power supplies and it usually requires replacing a resistor and potentiometer. I would recommend this to those who have experience testing/adjusting the voltage and can safely connect it to the mains.
