Everything is great in this set and very useful to have. But my only problem is the hooks. I've been using my cheap Walmart hooks for a while and wanted to try the ergonomic hooks. These pens are pleasant to the touch and very colourful. But I'm having a really hard time with these hooks. The trim rubs against my yarn so much that my yarn cannot easily slip off the hook. I feel a slight vibration throughout the handle when attempting to remove thread to complete the stitch. With my cheap Walmart hooks, my yarn slips off instantly and I can crochet without thinking or pausing at anything. But those hooks aren't smooth enough and I have to focus on every single movement I have to make to make sure every stitch comes out right. Not all crochet is like this. A few are actually smooth, but the rest are not. Another problem: I can't read the hook size to save my life. It is engraved on the rubber of the hook with no additional color to highlight the hook size number. I tried to give them a chance, I really did, because I really wanted to like them. But this problem has become a stumbling block for me. Too bad because I love the rest of the set. Maybe I'm the only one with this friction problem, or maybe I'm the only one who is so bothered that I can't continue my projects with these hooks. In any case, I'm sad to settle for my cheap smooth surface hooks and look for other hooks.
