Review on ๐Ÿงถ Lighted Crochet Hooks Set - 11 Sizes with Case, Rechargeable Hook with Light from 2.5mm to 8mm by Carrie Spencer

no slip, stepped rod, useless light

I wanted to like it. But yarn does not slip on the material of the hook. Another reviewer said "it creaks" and that's true. This makes engagement slow and difficult. Any gain in grip ergonomics is lost in the tension and effort required to pull the line on and off the hook. I think there really is nothing better than an aluminum hook. Hooks are graduated. That is, there is no part of the shaft that would all be the same diameter. The diameter starts at the top near the hook and increases in size towards the point where the hook attaches to the handle. This means you can't slide the stitch onto the needle without stretching it more than the stitch size it should be. Maybe I'm not explaining that part very well. Suffice it to say that the shape of the crochet hook and the slip resistance of the material do not suit my style of crocheting. I like being able to push the stitch further on the looper shaft than it allows. The last one is light. I was intrigued by this idea. Now I work with dark cotton threads on a 3.5mm needle. I could use more light to see the work. The hooks will light up, that's for sure. but the light does not illuminate the work. The hook becomes light and makes it difficult to see the work. It's like you're driving at night and a car approaching you has its high beams on. All you can see are the other car's headlights - you can't see the road around it. I already know where the catch is. But I need to see the work to know where to tick it. So I think the best way to light the work is to use a bright craft light with or without magnification. Sorry for the bad rating. I wanted to like it, but I just don't like it.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons

Lighted hooks are great, although plastic hooks take a little getting used to.
