Remember when you could retrain tire sensors with just a DIC and a manual? Well, apparently GM decided that was too much freedom for the owner of one of their cars, so what did they decide? Make it so that the dealer has to be consulted - and possibly for a fee. Well my troubles are over! I used this on a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse LTZ and when I followed the owner's manual the horn beeped at the right time and the tires locked into position (as tested by deflating to see a visible change in the DIC) . This might seem trivial until you have a small imperceptible tire leak and the right front wheel is actually the left rear wheel! This was my procedure for those who want to know, and as detailed in the manual from page 10-46.1. Set the parking brake.2. With the engine off, turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position (second click before the start point, but one click after the acc).3. Simultaneously press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the keyless remote (your key fob) for about five seconds. The beep will sound twice to indicate the receiver is in relearn mode and the message TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE will be displayed on the DIC.4. Start with the front wheel on the driver's side.5. Place the retraining tool on the sidewall of the tire next to the valve stem. Then press the button on your very handy Dandy VXDAS EL-50448 (after inserting the 9V battery of course) to activate the TPMS sensor. An audible signal will confirm that the sensor identification code matches the location of the tire and wheel.6. Move to the front wheel on the passenger side and repeat the process from step 5.7. Move to the rear wheel on the passenger side and repeat the process from step 5.8. Move to the rear driver's side wheel and repeat the process in step 5. The beep will sound twice to indicate that the sensor ID has been matched with the rear driver's side wheel and the TPMS sensor match is no longer active. The message TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE on the DIC disappears.9. Turn the ignition to the LOCK/OFF position.10. Adjust all four tires to the recommended air pressure found on the tire and load information label.11. Enjoy your freedom from GM theft!
