They work better than regular wood screws - the unthreaded portion near the head pulls two pieces of material STRONG together. Success brings more success. Once you understand how the Kreg principle works, you can build just about anything. The cost of the project will far exceed the cost of materials, and the combination of Kreg tooling and Kreg hardware completes the package. I've used alternate mounts with Kreg projects. Many cost more. You didn't do any better. Kreg screws are great value.
