Do you need it? nope Funny novelty? Yes. Is it worth the price to make a little difference to your next batch of homebrew? I think so. I'll admit that if you take a few bottles from room temperature storage and put them in the fridge, they can come in handy. After a few hours, the bottles can feel cold even if the beer is not cold enough. I've found that the lids don't turn a dark blue tint until the beer does. It can also help you distinguish between different batches if you have several aging ones. If you're using unlabeled brown bottles, it doesn't hurt to freshen them up a little either. I will buy again.
