I've done all the research suggested by the manufacturers. Cell tower direction, range, signal strength. This device should have been successful, unfortunately it is not. We use US Cellular which broadcasts in this area on Band 2 or 5, both supported by this unit. Our nearest tower is about 3 miles away and transmits on Band 2. Average -97dB. signal strength. Cell phone calls are sufficient, but the data transfer rate is 1 megabit per second. The external antenna is mounted on a 30 foot high roof mount facing the tower. The internal antenna is located 2 floors below. When the device is switched on, all 4 green indicators light up. No difference in signal strength. Installation is pretty easy if you're handy. But it all turned out to be a waste of time. looser. (UPDATE) Support contacted me and replaced the originally inefficient multi-band device with a patented US cellular band device. The replacement has omnidirectional antennas. It was important. I had unusable data service at this location and now have a working data rate. CSR is very active and accommodating. Retained 5 stars as the first device didn't work resulting in a lot of wasted time on 2 installs.
