My daughter got one for her birthday last year (almost a year ago) and she loves it. it has multiple color combinations, so she changes it often. It has been very well preserved since we first received it. A few months ago my son said he wanted his own so we got him one for his birthday just last week and he loves it too. It requires batteries and comes with a USB cable for power. It does NOT come with a USB adapter for a wall outlet (like a phone). We had some old phone charger adapters so we only used one of these and it worked great for both. The top of the lantern has a protective cover. The cover acts as a diffuser when you want to use it as a lamp, but we remove the cover and project images (stars, moon, etc.) onto the wall and turn on the rotation. Without the protective cover, the dome of the lamp is quite filigree. it is made of thin plastic. We haven't had any issues with it, but I see it tearing/denting/breaking due to abuse/abuse. Overall this is a great little light and I would definitely recommend it!
