If you have super steel blades, do yourself a favor

This is the best value for money you will find, the smallest shank is only 2mm in diameter which sufficient for 90% of all teeth. Ruby is harder than silicon, alumina, and pretty much everything else except CBN and diamond. Sapphire, the material from which beautiful screens and watches are made, is the same - marketers prefer to use sapphire as a word to distinguish it from a transparent ruby rather than a colored one, and also because it sounds much more vibrant. Fancy than saying Rolex has a "clear ruby" bezel. It cuts vanadium steels fairly well, I suppose it depends on the heat treat, but I've found that ruby probably does a good job 90% of the time, and outperforms diamond because it doesn't leave scratches. feels much smoother and more responsive and is also very easy to clean, even more so than ceramic. Its wear is very small, it performs little better than ceramic, but ceramic does not wear out at all. A flat bag will need repositioning after a while but will last far longer than any water stone, including a very heavy duty one like Shapton Glass. The other 10% of cases where the Ruby doesn't do what I want with Supersteel could be due to a very hard blade or just something I did wrong at the time. Anyway, it's too much value to pass up how good it is - it's pretty much a high grit (3000) porcelain tile for your S30v, S90v etc and for me they're almost essential to my now To sharpen log as you definitely do I don't want to use ceramic on vanadium steels.
