I bought this pump about 18 months ago to use to fill my tractor with diesel fuel. The pickup is tight but fits snugly in the opening of a typical 5-gallon plastic fuel tank. However, many of the newer cans have a filter built into the throat so this pump will not work on them unless you remove the can filter. From day one, the shutoff button on my pump stopped working, but I learned to use the on/off switch instead. After draining the pump, I left it hanging in a safe place in the tractor shed. Today, about 18 months later, it will not work. I changed the batteries and the motor made a noise for about two seconds and then stopped. The impeller shaft handle cannot be turned by hand, the pump motor is frozen. There is no way to disassemble the unit to try to repair or replace the pump, so it's time for me to buy a replacement.
